Role overview

The DataViz squad builds Grafana visualisations that help users make sense of telemetry. Recent work includes independently releasable visualisation components, GraphViz with live metrics, visual regression tests and updates to table and gauge displays. The posting is remote for candidates in the United States or Canada, particularly Eastern and Central time zones.

Responsibilities

Lead substantial frontend initiatives from problem framing and user feedback through rollout and measurement.
Design and build accessible, reliable data visualisations in Grafana’s TypeScript and React stack.
Mentor engineers through design review, pairing and code review.
Coordinate roadmaps and technical proposals across squads, including demos and customer escalations.
Participate in on-call and incident learning for the services developed by the team.

Qualifications

Experience leading complex production frontend work and mentoring other engineers.
Strong TypeScript and React skills; familiarity with charting libraries or visualisation systems is relevant.
Ownership of software after release, including reliability and incident response.
Clear asynchronous communication, user focus and pragmatic iteration.
Interest in open source and observability; experience with Grafana, Prometheus or similar tools is beneficial.
