Role overview

Grab’s FundsCore Platform team builds payment systems that settle accurately with large numbers of merchants. This senior backend role works on site at CMC Creative Space in Ho Chi Minh City and reports to an engineering manager in Singapore.

Responsibilities

Design and operate scalable backend services with attention to performance, cost, reliability and maintainability.
Own features from requirements and technical design through implementation, testing, deployment and post-launch monitoring.
Lead design reviews and evaluate reliability, latency, throughput and cost trade-offs.
Instrument services with metrics, logs and traces; define service objectives, improve alerting and plan capacity.
Improve CI/CD, testing, documentation and secure end-to-end workflows across teams.
Mentor engineers, participate in on-call incident response and support technical hiring interviews.

Qualifications

Hold a computer science or software engineering degree and bring at least five years of backend development experience.
Use Go proficiently, including concurrency and application optimisation, with solid algorithms and data structures knowledge.
Work with MySQL or PostgreSQL, including query performance and database reliability.
Design scalable cloud microservices on AWS or GCP and automate infrastructure with Terraform or AWS CloudFormation.
Practice TDD, CI/CD, Git, Jenkins and unit testing, and communicate fluently in English.
Apply AI coding tools such as Copilot, Claude Code or Cursor to coding, debugging, testing and review, and use AI to improve incident investigation and system design.
