Kake is a remote-first engineering community. This Senior Rust Engineer role focuses on high-performance, memory-safe and scalable systems software for mission-critical applications.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement scalable, memory-safe backend services and distributed systems in Rust.
• Write high-performance concurrent code and asynchronous services using Tokio and async/await.
• Apply Rust ownership, borrowing, lifetimes, traits and macros to produce robust idiomatic code.
• Guide architecture, troubleshoot complex production challenges and raise engineering standards.
• Maintain Cargo, Git and CI/CD workflows for reliable delivery.
• Contribute tooling, best practices and continuous improvement across projects.

Qualifications

• At least five years of software engineering experience with hands-on Rust work.
• Deep understanding of ownership, borrow checking, lifetimes, traits and macros.
• Systems-programming experience with multithreading, concurrency and performance-critical applications.
• Experience with asynchronous Rust, especially Tokio, and scalable backend or distributed systems.
• Comfort with Cargo, Git and CI/CD, strong analytical problem solving and excellent English communication.
• Ability to work independently in a remote environment; WebRTC, video processing or real-time systems are helpful.
