Role overview

Reddit’s Identity and Access Management team operates mission-critical, highly performant systems for identity, authentication and authorization across millions of users and backend services. This senior backend role combines delivery, technical coaching and mentorship.

Responsibilities

Design, build and ship backend services for authentication, authorization and identity.
Improve availability, performance, scalability and security of IAM systems.
Partner with product management, security, client engineering and backend teams on IAM strategy and roadmap.
Coach and mentor engineers and provide technical leadership on complex systems.
Investigate production issues, improve observability and strengthen operational practices.

Qualifications

Strong senior backend engineering experience with distributed production systems.
Experience with identity, authentication, authorization and security-sensitive services.
Ability to design reliable, scalable APIs and services with high uptime.
Strong programming, systems and operational fundamentals.
Excellent communication, mentoring and cross-functional collaboration skills.
