Role overview

VRChat’s Social Experience team uses data and machine learning to improve content discovery, groups and events. The posting names AWS, Python/FastAPI, Node.js and Snowflake in its personalization stack.

Responsibilities

Build scalable data pipelines, backend services and APIs for recommendations and social discovery.
Design data models for analytics and real-time recommendation use cases.
Process large datasets with tools such as Spark or Kafka, and improve personalization beyond simple heuristics.
Contribute to REST and WebSocket APIs, caching, queues and cloud orchestration; help resolve occasional outages.

Qualifications

At least three years in software engineering with substantial data engineering and scalable backend work.
Production ETL or ELT pipelines, strong SQL and database optimization for analytics and real-time access.
Experience with big-data systems, cloud services and languages such as Python or JavaScript; knowledge of search, warehousing and ML systems.
