Role overview

Canonical seeks a Python engineer for open-source software operations and infrastructure reliability. Work spans the Linux stack from kernel, networking and storage to applications, with monitoring and alerting for customers and community users.

Responsibilities

Design and deliver Python code that makes open-source application and infrastructure operations more reliable.
Work across Linux components and improve monitoring, alerting, engineering design and testing.
Use agile development practices and share technical insight with teammates.
Work from home and travel once or twice a year for company events lasting up to two weeks.

Qualifications

Python programming experience and hands-on Linux administration, package management and operations.
Familiarity with Docker and Kubernetes and experience with at least one public cloud.
A computer science or STEM degree or equivalent, plus care for reliable software and timely delivery.
Ability to collaborate in a distributed team and improve code through sound design and tests.
