Role overview

Mapbox’s Roads team constructs global road networks used for maps, navigation and high-definition map products. This software data engineering role contributes to road features and navigation technology in a cross-functional team.

Responsibilities

Own, improve, scale and iterate on existing road-data processing pipelines.
Design and implement new data processing pipelines for mapping and navigation data.
Collect and monitor performance metrics for pipeline operations.
Discuss and implement security best practices in data-processing systems.
Collaborate with a self-organized, cross-functional engineering team on road and navigation products.

Qualifications

Knowledge of at least one of C++, Python, Scala or Java.
Experience with AWS services such as S3, EC2, IAM, EMR, Glue, Athena or Kinesis, or another cloud platform.
Comfort with SQL and understanding of SQL engine fundamentals.
Understanding of distributed-computing principles and at least one workflow tool such as Airflow, Oozie or Luigi.
Strong analytical thinking, technical decision-making, creative problem solving and written and spoken English.
Mapping, navigation, automotive or Spark/data-processing experience is helpful.
