Role overview

The snapd team works on the Linux package format and delivery system used on IoT devices, desktops and servers. This role focuses on system-level quality, security sandboxing, resilience and the software publisher and user experience. It is remote within EMEA or the Americas, with two company trips a year of up to two weeks each.

Responsibilities

Write maintainable Go code for new snapd features and software delivery workflows.
Investigate Linux system-level faults and provide tested fixes.
Improve robust operation under unexpected events such as power loss.
Review teammates' code and work through design choices in a distributed team.
Contribute to packaging, confinement, telemetry and device-management capabilities across Linux distributions.

Qualifications

Professional software development with Go, Python, C or C++.
Linux system-level fundamentals, including cgroups, namespaces or AppArmor.
Commitment to unit and integration testing, peer review and maintainable code.
Computer science or related STEM degree, or equivalent background stated in the posting.
Curiosity, accountability and clear communication for collaborative open-source development.
