Role overview

Canonical seeks a Linux field engineer for device and IoT customers in automotive, medical, industrial, robotics, telecom and consumer electronics. The role combines technical customer work with embedded Linux solution design and project delivery.

Responsibilities

Gather customer requirements during presales and explain the relevant Ubuntu and Ubuntu Core technologies.
Design proposed embedded Linux solutions and contribute to delivery of selected customer projects.
Bring market and customer requirements back to product and engineering teams, including opportunities to improve reusable solutions.
Represent customer needs while advising Canonical on technical decisions.

Qualifications

Deep practical understanding of Linux, operating-system configuration, distribution packaging and system debugging.
Programming and scripting skills, with experience in low-level boot, BIOS, EFI, Secure Boot, firmware and embedded software methods.
Ability to discuss requirements with customers, design solutions and adapt across varied client engagements.
