Role overview

Work across the Linux stack, from the kernel to graphical interfaces, to improve Ubuntu on new silicon for desktop, server, PC and IoT products. The employer marks the role globally remote.

The team works with silicon partners and customers on operating-system integration, device images, application performance and hardware enablement.

Responsibilities

Design and implement Ubuntu integration for new IoT and server hardware and their software stacks.
Work with partners on performance, testing strategy and quality measures for their platforms.
Lead technical work on complex customer systems that span cloud and edge environments.
Help customers integrate applications and SDKs, build device operating-system images, and optimise Ubuntu Core, Desktop and Server deployments.

Qualifications

A computer science or related STEM degree, experience with C and C++, and practical Linux packaging knowledge such as Debian, RPM or Yocto.
Experience with open-source communities and licences, plus the ability to work independently with a distributed team.
Additional useful experience includes graphics stacks, TCP/IP and related networking, IoT or embedded software, security practices and Docker, OCI containers or Kubernetes.
