Role overview

Rerun is developing a multimodal data stack for physical AI and a commercial analytical database for ingesting, indexing and querying data at scale. The role is open to candidates based in Europe; the team coordinates overlap in the CET afternoon and meets in person roughly quarterly.

Responsibilities

Design and operate a Rust-based analytical database using Apache Arrow for sparse, wide and time-series multimodal data.
Scale the architecture across nodes as load and data volumes grow, including distributed work and bottleneck analysis.
Build core components that keep the data system reliable and observable.

Qualifications

Three to five years of Rust, or strong C/C++ systems experience and motivation to learn Rust.
Production backend and data-platform experience, including distributed-system tradeoffs, scaling, query execution or indexing.
Good English for remote collaboration; Apache DataFusion, cloud deployment and physical-AI interests are useful extras.

Technology in this role

C++: Three to five years of Rust, or strong C/C++ systems experience and motivation to learn Rust.
