Role overview

Mapbox’s Security & Compliance team builds scanning, threat-detection and compliance automation for its AWS-native, container-based cloud deployment and digital assets.

This remote Senior Software Engineer role helps product teams build secure-by-default systems and improves security services across a globally distributed organisation.

Responsibilities

Conduct deep AWS security reviews and validate that cloud best practices are followed.
Recommend security improvements and work with production-support teams to implement them.
Partner with the lead security architect to fix custom security tools and bots.
Review application code with developers so security issues are addressed during coding and testing.
Work with product teams to implement secure-by-default design in their products.
Participate in an on-call rotation supporting customer-facing systems 24/7.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree or higher in computer science or a similar discipline.
At least five years of product or application security and related software engineering experience.
Experience with AWS services including GuardDuty, CloudTrail, IAM, Security Groups, CloudFront, CloudFormation, S3, ECS, Lambda, DynamoDB and RDS.
Proficiency in Python, JavaScript, Node.js or TypeScript, together with testing and documentation practices.
Security best-practice expertise and the ability to make risk assessments that prioritise company benefit.
