Role overview

This Ruby engineering role works across SearchApi’s search-data product, from parsers and browser automation to documentation, dashboards and customer support. The team uses Rails, PostgreSQL, Redis, Sidekiq and AWS and expects engineers to own production results. The posting lists remote work from Vietnam.

Responsibilities

Repair parsers when source sites change and add data fields or new search-engine integrations.
Investigate browser automation and Chrome DevTools Protocol behaviour, including fingerprinting and site protections.
Improve documentation, landing pages and admin features, and review and test colleagues’ changes.
Speak with customers, rotate through support and report progress on fixes and product needs.
At senior level, improve concurrency, performance, monitoring and architecture while mentoring other engineers.

Qualifications

Strong Ruby and Ruby on Rails skills plus web fundamentals such as HTTP, TLS, JavaScript, CSS selectors and XPath.
Practical browser automation, data extraction and debugging experience; CDP, Playwright or Puppeteer internals are especially relevant.
Ability to work independently under production pressure, write clear technical and customer updates, and communicate in English.
Computer science degree or equivalent technical background. Ruby concurrency, anti-bot systems, network debugging and AWS or Terraform are additional strengths.
