Role overview

Canonical's certification team develops tools and probing hardware that check whether devices work properly with Ubuntu Core, Desktop and Server. The work supports silicon firms, OEMs and ODMs in delivering a reliable Ubuntu experience. This role is home based in EMEA and includes international meetings two or three times a year.

Responsibilities

Maintain and add features to Python-based test tools such as Checkbox, used internally and by industry partners.
Develop remote automated testing approaches and improve existing certification processes.
Build software for in-house test hardware that exercises graphics, hotplug, Bluetooth and other device capabilities.
Write functional and performance tests to support hardware enablement and prevent regressions.
Collaborate with hardware and software partners to improve Ubuntu compatibility.

Qualifications

Python programming and a quality-focused, pragmatic approach to software design.
Interest in automated testing methods and previous experience with Ubuntu or another Linux distribution.
Ability to work productively with a globally distributed team.
Hardware or IoT testing and experience with C are useful additional skills.
Curiosity about building and probing devices; agile-team experience is also desirable.
