Role overview

This general hiring track covers backend microservices teams at different seniority levels. Canonical runs services for large numbers of Ubuntu clients and community contributors, with work on API design, resilience, security, observability and DevOps.

Responsibilities

Build and test reliable Python or Go services and design APIs for review with colleagues.
Develop fault-tolerant applications that can operate across regions and at large scale.
Investigate failures, document architecture and coordinate with distributed Canonical teams.
Apply continuous integration and delivery practices; take part in company events requiring travel twice yearly.

Qualifications

Proficiency in Python or Go and experience building maintainable backend software.
Practical knowledge of relational and non-relational databases, CI/CD, scalable web services and Linux.
A computer science or STEM degree, or persuasive alternative experience, plus professional English communication.
Additional relevant experience includes containers, distributed systems, public or private clouds, performance and security.
