Responsibilities

Design, build, test and document software in Go for a relevant Ubuntu or infrastructure product.
Diagnose reported defects and participate in code and architecture reviews.
Develop technical specifications with colleagues and open-source communities.
Improve engineering and operations practices; some teams also deploy and operate their own services.
Support the product through technical communication and advocacy.

Qualifications

Experience writing robust Go software on Linux and substantial familiarity with Linux systems; Debian or Ubuntu experience is preferred.
Ability to organise independent work, deliver to schedule and collaborate in written and spoken English.
A computer science or STEM degree, or a persuasive alternative path into software engineering.
For senior assignments, experience building and operating distributed services and APIs.
Useful extras include Ubuntu development, Juju, LXD, MicroK8s, Snapd, performance engineering and security.
Ability to travel to company events twice yearly, with visits lasting up to two weeks.
