Role overview

Canonical seeks a systems software engineer for developer tooling and containers. The APAC remote role focuses on useful interfaces, correct behaviour across use cases, and performance and security in Linux tooling.

Responsibilities

Design the user experience and implementation of new developer-tool capabilities.
Write and review robust code, considering correctness, performance, quality and security.
Investigate concrete user problems and coordinate with teams inside and outside Canonical.
Contribute to container-related development in the Linux ecosystem.

Qualifications

Professional coding in Go, Python, C or C++ and understanding of Linux system concepts such as cgroups and namespaces.
A technical degree or persuasive alternative path, with strong written and spoken English.
Ability to exchange technical feedback, explain decisions and travel to company events twice yearly.
Useful extras include LXC or LXD, package-manager internals, and AI/ML or CUDA/OpenVINO.
