Role overview

Reddit is building a new web media experience for video and audio. This software-engineering role owns technical components of the web media player and the APIs behind low-latency playback and interactive creator and user tools.

Responsibilities

Design and build web media-player capabilities for video and audio delivery.
Develop APIs that support smooth, low-latency playback and interactive media experiences.
Apply patterns from large streaming platforms to improve reliability and performance.
Work with product, design and engineering partners to execute product strategy.
Build tools that help creators and users interact with media.
Test, monitor and iterate on playback quality across devices and network conditions.

Qualifications

Strong software-engineering experience building web products or media systems.
Experience with frontend or full-stack development, APIs and asynchronous browser applications.
Understanding of streaming, playback performance, latency and reliability.
Ability to collaborate cross-functionally and turn product goals into technical designs.
Strong communication, testing and problem-solving skills.
