Role overview

Reddit Consumer Engineering builds and scales products people use to discover content, participate in communities and connect. This frontend product-engineering role spans core feeds, community tools, growth, monetisation, identity and safety.

Responsibilities

Partner with product, design, data science and iOS/Android/web engineers to translate user needs into reliable, low-latency solutions.
Own the software lifecycle from design documents and API contracts through development, testing, rollout and observability.
Design and evaluate A/B experiments and analyse behaviour, conversion funnels and retention.
Build scalable GraphQL, REST or gRPC APIs and distributed services optimised for client and UI performance.
Establish engineering practices, improve developer workflows, mentor teammates and use modern AI-integrated tools.

Qualifications

At least five years of hands-on backend or product-engineering experience with large-scale distributed systems.
Strong frontend or full-stack skills and experience building consumer web products.
Comfort with experimentation, metrics and tools such as BigQuery, HEX or Firebase.
User-centred product judgement, strong API and performance fundamentals and excellent communication.
Ability to collaborate across teams and operate services in high-concurrency environments.
