Developer Relations Engineer at Canonical

Role overview

This remote role connects Canonical product teams with developers using Ubuntu and related tools. It combines hands-on Linux knowledge with community conversations, technical content and event presentations. The listed regions are APAC and EMEA.

Responsibilities

• Join product discussions and bring developer feedback into priorities and day-to-day decisions.
• Answer technical questions in forums, social channels and meetups, and improve documentation for developers.
• Create articles, talks or workshops and present at conferences or technical events.
• Identify recurring friction in the developer experience and coordinate improvements across Canonical teams.

Qualifications

• Software development and deployment experience on Linux, with a demonstrable interest in open-source communities.
• Practical familiarity with Linux packaging such as deb, snap, charm, rock, pip or containers.
• Clear presentation skills, empathy with different viewpoints and an ability to build trust with developers.
• Willingness to travel twice yearly for company events and, where relevant, partner or upstream meetings.
