We are seeking a Staff Backend Engineer with a unique blend of skills and a wealth of experience to contribute to our innovative endeavors. In this pivotal role, you will be instrumental in developing and maintaining our cutting-edge backend for the developer platform. You'll collaborate with colleagues from various backgrounds and specialties, harnessing our collective strengths to design and implement scalable and efficient solutions tailored to our business's multifaceted needs. Creating and driving our Storage as a service strategy.

Building the technical foundation for future features and experiences.

Creating a collaborative and supportive team with a strong sense of ownership.

7+ years of industry experience in backend, infrastructure, developer tools, or app platforms.

Technical leader in the execution of large scale projects as well as day-to-day troubleshooting.

Go, Typescript, Redis, distributed SQL, and Kubernetes experience.

Mentoring and coaching other engineers as well as leading by example strong software engineering best practices.

Passion for developing scalable, well-designed software that people love.

Responsibilities

Build and maintain the underlying infrastructure of the developer platform.
Build new features for external developers such as SQL db as a service.
Contribute to the entire development cycle: technical design, development, test, experimentation, analysis, and launch. You’ll be reviewing code and design docs, giving feedback on product specs and mocks.
Contribute meaningfully to team strategy. We give everyone a seat at the table and encourage active participation in planning for the future.

About Reddit

The Deployment Infrastructure team is hiring a Senior Full Stack Software Engineer to lead the design, development, and evolution of the web UI for our build and deployment platform. In this role, you’ll craft a cohesive, intuitive user experience that enables engineers across Reddit to build, test, and ship software safely and confidently to a globally distributed cloud ecosystem.

Our team owns continuous integration, continuous deployment, and the underlying systems that power build and deployment workflows. We’re looking for an engineer who operates at the intersection of frontend engineering, distributed systems and infrastructure, and developer experience.

In your day-to-day, you can expect to:

Design, build, and ship high-quality features across the stack, with a focus on creating reusable, maintainable UI components and polished frontends that scale with the platform
